Home School Class Ring
Q.Just have to ask , if people don't mind telling their age(or year you graduated) same difference I would love to get an idea of the price of class rings!!!! I feel old enough as it is, but Rick came home from school all excited! He is in the 11th grade this year and next week we order class rings! I was excited too, till I saw what has become of class rings! I have grown to like my boys and spending time with my nieces I thank God time and time again for blessing me with boys!
A.Any ways.... If I remember right we had a choice of like 3-4 different styles, after all nobody wants to be the same...right? Well good Lord am here to say that the class of 2005 will be originals...there will not be 2 alike anywhere in the united states!LOL First off the schools in the county are using 'Herff Jones', I have been told they are the ones that do the rings for the sports teams! They insure your purchase that if it is lost or stolen it can be replaced for $100.00. Of course there is a bunch of stuff they offer for free, like name on inside along with the year they graduate,school mascot on the side of ring, etc. BUT...the stone,activities and such that you KNOW the kids are going to want...an extra $30.00 *each**!! (I know know what I should have done in life!LOL) Good thing Dad was out of town for 4 days with work and has returned in a good mood! Rick even asked about taking his money out of the savings account to pay for it...but thats what he has been saving for a car! Plus, if he tried to make payments, they will cut it as low as you need. But....no ring till paid in full! So figured what the heck, told Rick not to mention it and I would talk to his Dad. Richard and I have decided that the only thing we know to do is that will be the boys graduation gift from us! I was surprised he agreed to this but glad. I know how much it means to have the ring! Now of course you can get a plain ring no added things on it or anything is slightly over $100.00. Oh, and minyou that is for something they are calling 'Sunglo' metal that doesn't hold up! To purchase a ring that is like a class ring should be, gold and the designs..... there are 10k and also 14k. Of course the one being the cheaper one starts at **$316.00**.... then Rick is being conservative and just wants Rick on the one side,9/11 memorial on the one side to show something of importance that happened during high school years, other side will have a bulldog for the school(remember thats free!) and a garnet stone for his birth month...the stone will have to be picked as far as rounded,sphere,starburst,rainbow,galaxy,imperial cuts...makes a difference of how the light shines through!!! With the free stuff and price on what Rick would like we are looking in the ball park of $400.00!!! Told Richard we need to talk here!!! Of course my diamonds are higher then that but the wedding band wasn't even that price!!!LOL I know I know this is years from when Richard and I were in school but it is so over done with what they have done! Trust me they are awesome looking but that awesome price tag comes with them. The girls rings are so beautiful! Any where from cocktail rings to regular ones. So I go with Rick next Tuesday night to either put the money down or pay for it. I was so glad to hear Richard say...just put it on the credit card that way he can have it and we can make payments to that just as easy. So we now know that they pick rings and get them in the 11th grade(has been like that but slipped my mind!)....so we buy one this year, next year for Justin and then we have a 2 year break before Ryan gets his!!! I knew this was coming guess I just went to sleep here for awhile and wasn't thinking!LOL So while it is on my mind...guess we need to go ahead and start putting the $$ back for the graduation announcements this year for next year!!!LOL Being his mum doesn't just mean that you see his good points, you'll also see his bad ones too but consideration in a child is an admirable quality that should be praised and something to be proud of:-) It is the sort of thing that only happens once in his life and I can understand you wanting to buy it for him and not get the cheap nasty versions. I guess the reason they are so expensive is also because they are personalised. I'd do the same for my children and always find a way to give them things that are important to them. Next year the year my daughters class go to Normandy with the school and no matter how hard it's going to be, I'll make sure that she gets there too:-) I know someone who has 5 children ranging from 9 to 14 and lets just say that consideration for others isn't exactly a priority! Two years ago their mum broke her right wrist (she's right handed) and not one of them helped out around the house:-(
